Part of deciding where to go to college was access to navigable water. I chose UW-Stout in Menomonie, Wisconsin. From that location, I had access to enjoying and exploring Lake Menomin and Tainter, the Red Cedar River, Chippewa River, and Mississippi River.
After graduating with a B.S. in Industrial Education, I accepted a teaching position at Casper Community College in Wyoming. The North Platte River access was close and I had Alcova and Pathfinder reservoirs to fish, hunt, and explore. I eventually moved back to the Midwest where I worked as a vocational evaluator for trades and industry at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Many hours were spent canoeing on the Iowa and Cedar Rivers and boating, fishing, and hunting on the Coralville Reservoir.
In 2001 my family and I made a major life change. I sold my construction business, house, and rental properties. We bought a 1983 47' Bluewater MY with plans to live aboard. We moved the boat (Blue Moon) to Trempealeau, Wisconsin, where we outfitted her for cruising. We traveled the Mississippi River, Tombigbee Waterway, Okeechobee Waterway, and then cruised to the Abacos, Bahamas. We spent two years cruising and living aboard before selling the boat and moving back to the Midwest and settling in Menomonie, Wisconsin. I am now semi-retired and purchased a sailboat with an interest in expanding my sailing skills.
The opportunity with POP Yachts to match boats to new owners is a perfect fit for me. I would like to help you live your boating dream.
