Jim grew up next to the Fox River in Elgin Illinois. He would go boating on the river and travel up to Wisconsin and Minnesota fishing on the lakes and rivers with his grandfather and dad. His grandfather had a business of buying, selling and repairing outboard motors and small boats. It was during these formative years where he discovered the joy of being in the outdoors with the wind in my face as we raced across the waters.
Jim's family moved to California in 1967, when his dad bought a boatyard ,"Anchors Way Marine" ,at the Ventura Harbor in Ventura CA. He operated the Boatyard from 1967 until 1975. Jim worked at the boatyard in the summers cleaning and painting boat bottoms and
periodically running the boat lift. That's when he got the experience of being around larger yachts and sail boats and the people who love spending time on the Pacific Ocean.
We met during that time while seniors
in high school We both love for the ocean and outdoors We graduated from Cal Poly State University, San Luis Obispo in 1977. Sara became a high school Spanish teacher and Jim's degree in Ornamental Horticulture set our course for the next 37 years.
In 1980 -2015 we owned and operated a wholesale flower nursery that involved in growing, marketing ,and Internet sales.of flowers across the nation.
We sold our Wholesale Nursery and home in Carpinteria CA in the fall of 2015. We spent a year after the sale traveling around the western US .with our 36 foot 5th wheel and pick-up truck .
We now have added the experience of living full time as an RVers.
