This is a 1969 MCI Challenger bus conversion with a beautiful polished aluminum exterior and polished aluminum Alcoa wheels. This full size motor coach is fully equipped with every conceivable feature from the heyday of the 1980's and 1990's and has clearly been treasured since new. The odometer reads 26,832 which may reflect the miles since the professional conversion and the rebuilding of the 8 cylinder diesel engine with commercial automatic transmission.
There is a massive amount of both interior space as well as extensive storage space both inside and underneath. There are two separate toilets with vanities as well as a separate shower. Equally there are two large cedar closets and extensive drawers and cabinets.
This is the perfect vehicle to treasure as a time capsule or to update wherever the new owner feels it desirable. The bus is currently started and run weekly. All tires have excellent tread.
The base vehicle that the conversion was based upon is the famous MC-7 commercial bus...one of the best built commercial vehicles of the time. It was designed to replace Greyhound's Scenicruiser fleet which was averaging nearly 14 years old in 1968.
During its production and Greyhound operating period, the MC-7 represented the current state of intercity coach design with three axles, 40-foot length, and a high seat platform, allowing for substantial underfloor luggage space and absence of wheel-well intrusion into the passenger floor The MC-8 and MC-9 which followed in later years did not change this configuration but rather refined some of the details and updated the styling. Some 2,550 MC-7s were delivered over six years of production.
If you are in the market for a one of these beautiful bus conversions that still stand out amongst the finest of new RV's then this vehicle should be seen.
This beautiful bus conversion is in excellent condition and represents the best available components and fittings of its era. There is the need for some cleaning, detailing and perhaps updating as it has not been used in many years. However it is started and run weekly. The operating condition of many accessories is unknown and can be tested when examined.
All reasonable offers will be reviewed and presented to the seller.
My offer is contingent upon being fully satisfied with unit after personal inspection and/or professional inspection.
