Built in Bend Oregon, the legendary Beaver Class A motorhomes were prized for their use of the stout Gillig chassis paired with a powerful Caterpiller turbo diesel engine. While this Contessa shows inevitable age spots, it's truly a diamond-in-the-rough diesel pusher with low miles and lots of potential for the owner looking to revive a classic.
With just 58,000 miles on a platform built to handle many hundreds of thousands, this Contessa has great bones. As a rear-cooling diesel pusher, this Beaver offers the best in power and economy. The cat engine fires easily and reliably and the Gillig chassis will capably weather any roads you'll face.
The exterior shows the effects of time but the body is straight and the roof is regularly sealed. One thing you will note is the addition of a solar power system which will provide the next owner with plenty of self-contained, off-the-grid power capability. And when day turns to night you'll be able to rely on the Cummins Onan 6.3KW generator to keep the lights on and the fridge cold.
Speaking of the fridge, one of the things you will undoubtedly notice is the large galley kitchen with the residential Refrigerator/freezer, gas stove, microwave, big sink and loads of storage. It even has dedicated wineglass storage!
While the sofa is due for new fabric, the rest of the seating is tear-free and, when combined with swiveling drivers and passenger seats, offers a large common area for family and friends.
Through the dual pocket doors you'll find a huge bathroom with as large a shower as you can imagine in a RV, a residential queen with nightstands and closets galore.
For the savvy buyer who's willing to see past easily-remedied cosmetic issues, this Contessa still offers many miles of rugged, spacious travel in its future.
The seller states that all main systems are fully functional. Given the age of this RV, one would expect a few issues that will need repair. The roof has been regularly sealed and appears water-tight, though the build-up of sealant may need to be stripped and replaced at some point in the future. The paint is faded but the body and frame are straight. Other than the sofa, the interior is free from tears and nearly stain-free. The automatic entrance steps are stuck in the down position.
The main awning is functional and whole but the linkage likely needs lubrication. The coach batteries on their last legs and need to be replaced.
All reasonable offers will be reviewed and presented to the seller.
My offer is contingent upon being fully satisfied with unit after personal inspection and/or professional inspection.
